Strong Teen Group Will Make Their Mark This Year
![]() |
I am so pleased to be working with our teens again this year as their advisor.
It was one of the most rewarding experiences I have had in volunteering here
at the church in the past. I have a few goals in mind that I would like to see
them accomplish as a group this year, but what is most wonderful is being able
to see what the minds of our UU youth are thinking and allowing them to set
their own agenda as the year takes shape.
I have been observing the group around the church and am very excited about their potential. I find that they have a great deal to say and their thoughts are on target with our UU principles when it comes to matters of community outreach and social justice. These qualities combined with the gentle and helpful nature that I see them exhibit makes me sure they are all on their way to becoming young adults that we can be happy to send out into the world to do their part to make it a better place. This shows great development through our RE programming, interaction with our church family adults and children, and of course outstanding parenting. Parents of our teens should be very proud of their work.
My job as advisor is to help harness their energies and guide them in the directions where they can make an impact. They are lucky to be coming of age at such an exciting time for us at UUCFL. As UU General Assembly is set to come to Ft Lauderdale, our teens will have a high profile role as volunteers and ambassadors for the youth coming in from all over the country. One of my goals is to see all of them attend, help out and learn as much as they can during this life changing experience and to see them make a mark this year as we further prepare them for their journeys as UU adults. They are our future.
I look forward to great things this year.
