What To Do Now That You've Joined?
Have you recently joined the church and are trying to find out how to connect with people? Is coffee hour a little intimidating? Here are some suggestions about how you can meet and get to know your fellow UU's in smaller group settings.

Work Day - The third Sunday of each month, we meet together to do outside and inside fix-ups of our buildings and grounds.

Choir - This hearty band rehearses and sings together.

Spirit Cinema - We watch a thoughtful or controversial movie on DVD after church

First Wednesday Lunch Bunch - These folks have the time to meet together for a brown bag lunch at the church.

After Church Luncheons - When these are scheduled, they are fun to attend.

UU Sisterhood - A group of women who meet together 9am the first and third Sundays of the month.

Labyrinth Cafe - An evening of folk music with people working together to make it happen.

Adult Education - These classes explore interesting topics and are a great way to see other sides of the people you've met over coffee.

Topics in Eastern Thought - This forum comes and goes and promises to become a center of ideas and discussion.

CUUPS - The church Pagans do ceremony, pageantry, and explore quaint ideas you might not find elsewhere. Drop by for an entertaining evening.

More involvement through service:

Sunday Morning Greeters - Get to know everyone in a hurry.

Coffee Hosts - Brew and setup our Sunday morning communion and be thanked by everyone.

Sunday Service Committee - These folks plan services and then scurry around behind the scene making it happen. There's candles, hymnals, sound, and arrangements to be dealt with.

Membership Committee - These folks welcome, greet and mentor.

Caring Committee - These folks call around when someone is absent or ill or when a storm is coming.

Finance Committee - These folks balance our books and project our future. Calculators will be provided.

Free Thinkers AA - This group meets to call upon a personal higher power who may not be the Judeo-Christian Deity as they deal with life's issues. You don't need to acquire a drinking problem to fit elsewhere, but AA is for people who need AA,

Pagan Substance Abuse - This group meets to help one another deal with challenges from substance abuse, and, again, not in a main stream manner.

Consider exploring UU events further from home:

SUUSI - At the Southeast Unitarian Universalist Summer Institute, 1000 UUs meet the last week in July for workshops, nature programs, worship and community.

SWIM - At the Southeast Unitarian Universalist Winter Institute at Miami, 200 UU's meet the week between Christmas and New Year's this year north of Tampa, FL at UU in the Pines, for workshops, nature programs, worship and community.

GA - General Assembly is the annual meeting of 4000 UUs, a full week in late June, to do the business of our denomination, plus enjoy workshops and each other.

Cluster/District - These are Florida and local divisions of our Unitarian Universalist Association. They produce workshops of special interest and opportunities to meet other UUs outside of our congregation.
